Event Safety Management

The ticket/refreshment booth at the school is vulnerable once the evening’s event has started.  Few people are outside the theatre once the main doors close. The volunteer parent running the booth has noticed two suspicious characters loitering in the area.  Aware that the booth is an easy target for robbery,  the parent needs to alert the school’s security team so they can send help or notify the local police to maintain security in the area.

Solution

The focus of this solution is forming comprehensive emergency response strategies for plausible situations leveraging the reach of Cisco’s VoIP infrastructure.

• Create rules that govern who receives the alert message over what mediums, based on time of  day; district patrol officers are targeted during normal operating hours, local police officers are targeted after hours
• From a touch of a concealed button, page to the IP phones of campus and district first responders what type of emergency is occurring and where
• From a touch of a concealed button, provide a still image to the IP phone of campus and district first responders allowing them to assess the situation before responding
• Depress a speed dial button programmed to call first responders resulting in an ad-hoc conference call and a more coordinated response
• From a web interface, simultaneously view additional cameras in surrounding areas to better assess the situation
• Open a two way line of communication with the speaker of an IP phone nearest the affected area; listen to surrounding activities, guide afflicted party through next steps
